Hospital Emergency Department Pediatric Readiness Measures

Pediatric Readiness Recognition Program

State Target: By 2027, 45% of hospitals with an ED are recognized through a statewide, territorial, or regional standardized program.

Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator

State Target: By 2027, 75% of hospitals with an ED have a designated nurse, physician, or both who coordinates pediatric emergency care.

1.3

Weigh and Record Children’s Weight in Kilograms

State Target: By 2027, 84% of hospitals with an ED weigh and record children in kilograms.

Disaster Plan

State Target: By 2027, 75% of hospitals with an ED have a disaster plan that addresses the needs of children.


Prehospital Emergency Medical Services Pediatric Readiness Measures

2.1

Pediatric Readiness Recognition Program

State Target: By 2027, 25% of prehospital EMS agencies are recognized through a statewide, territorial, or regional standardized program that are able to stabilize and/or manage pediatric emergencies.

2.2

Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator

State Target: By 2027, 50% of prehospital EMS agencies have a designated pediatric emergency care coordinator.

2.3

Use of Pediatric-Specific Equipment

State Target: By 2027, 46% of prehospital EMS agencies have a process for the correct use of pediatric-specific equipment.

2.4

Disaster Plan

State Target: By 2027, 75% of prehospital EMS agencies have a disaster plan that addresses the needs of children.
