The NPRP Assessment evaluates an ED’s ability to provide high-quality care for children based on national guidelines regarding pediatric emergency care. Every five years, the voluntary assessment is administered by the EMSC Data Center (EDC) along with updated guidelines. The updated 2026 NPRP Assessment is based on the 2026 joint policy statement, “Pediatric Readiness in the Emergency Department” – developed by professional societies representing emergency physicians, emergency nurses, pediatricians, and trauma surgeons.
The 2026 NPRP Assessment will launch March 3. See the NPRP 2026 Assessment Overview and Frequently Asked Questions to learn more.
